A.1 Basic course

For technical supervisory staff in explosive ordnance disposal according to §20 Spreng (Germany)

Course contents

With successful participation in the basic course “Technical Supervisory Staff in Explosive Ordnance Disposal,” the students will acquire the certified expertise to carry out the following activities:

  • Searching for, excavating, and recovery of explosive remnants of war (ERW).
  • Storage and transport of explosive ordnance within the business premises.
  • Transportation, transferring and receiving explosive ordnance.
  • Transfer of custody of explosive ordnance to others.
  • Legal basics.
  • Ammunition technology.
  • Surveying and detection technology.

Please note: The course does not lead to acquiring the certified expertise to:

  • Process and destroy small arms ammunition, explosive ordnance (stockpiled), and recovered explosive ordnance (unexploded or abandoned ordnance).
  • Recover explosive substances from small arms ammunition and explosive ordnance.
  • Carry out blasting work and handling pyrotechnic charges and pyrotechnic objects in Germany.
  • Please note: Different rules may apply in other countries.

Specific admittance rules

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Participants must be:

  • Over 21 years old.
  • Hold a personal security clearance certificate according to §34 of the 1st SprengV (German Law).

 

ADDITIONAL SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Completed technical vocational training (the acquired qualification must correspond with level 4 in the German and European qualifications framework at least), and proof of at least two years of practical experience in a commercial ERWC company or with a state EOD service. These activities must include the searching for, excavation and recovery of ERW under the supervision of “responsible persons” (technical supervisors).

or

Completed technical or scientific university or technical college training (at least, the degree must correspond with level 6 of the German and European Qualifications framework, and proof of at least one year of practical experience as an employee (according to German law) in a commercial ERWC company or a state EOD service. These activities must include the searching for, excavation, and recovery of ERW under the supervision of “responsible persons” (technical supervisors).

or

Proof of training in the Bundeswehr as a “certified ammunition expert” and proof of at least six months of practical experience as an employee (according to German law) in a commercial ERWC company or a state EOD service. These activities must include the searching for, excavation, and recovery of ERW under the supervision of “responsible persons” (technical supervisors).

or

Proof of at least four years of practical experience as an employee (German law) in a commercial company or a state EOD service. These activities must include the searching for, excavation, and recovery of ERW under the supervision of “responsible persons”(technical supervisors).

or

Proof of participation in an introductory course to search for ERW – explosive remnants of war clearance (ERWC) worker in ERW clearance operations (ordnance clearance worker/detector operator) as a preparatory course for the basic course. In addition, proof of at least 12 months’ practical work as an employee (according to German Law) in a commercial ERWC company or with a state EOD service.

Certification

Certificate of participation in government certified courses according to § 32 1. SprengV (Germany) after the successful practical, written and oral examination to obtain a permit according to § 20 / or a permission according to § 7 SprengG (Germany).

Certification according to AZAV (Akkreditierungs- und Zulassungsverordnung Arbeitsförderung) Please use the form in the download area to provide evidence of the necessary practical work as an assistant in the respective task areas of ERWC.
