1. Which course is for me? How do I qualify for a course?

At EOD Academy, we are currently offering the following international courses in English or rather in German/English language:

  1. EOD I/II according to IMAS

This course is for beginners with little or no experience in the field of humanitarian demining and/or environmental munitions response, seeking employment in the sector. Usually, candidates have had some initial field experience as deminers, BAC operators or similar. The course language is English.

There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

  1. EOD III according to IMAS

This course is for experienced level II-qualified operators in the field of humanitarian demining, environmental munitions response, or EOD related functions in military or law enforcement, seeking higher qualification in the sector. Usually, candidates have had thoroughfield experience from field deployments in EOD-related operations. The course content is built on existing prior basic knowledge and practical experiences of the participants. The course language is English.

Only participants with EOD level II qualification or similar will be accepted to attend this course.

  1. EOD III+ according to IMAS

This course is for experienced level III-qualified operators in the field of humanitarian demining, environmental munitions response, or EOD related functions in military or law enforcement, seeking the highest level of qualification in the sector. The course content is built on a good level of knowledge and operational field experiences on EOD III level of the participants. The course language is English.

Only participants with EOD level III qualification or similar will be accepted to attend this course.

  1. A1E, basic course to acquire the German EOD certificate according to §20 of the German Explosives Act

This course is for non-native German speaking experienced EOD/BAC operators with a strong background in environmental munitions response, wishing to work either as freelancer or as employee in the munitions response sector in Germany (onshore, offshore). The course content is built on a basic understanding of the German language. The course is bilingual and will be conducted in German and English. There is a two-week language support course prior to the 9 week basic course. The exams (one week) will be conducted in front of a board and in GERMAN language.

As required by law, only participants with a minimum of TWO YEARS???  prior field experiences as an EOD operator and with a certificate of good conduct will be accepted to attend this course.

4. Where can I stay during a course?

The Academy does not offer accommodation on its premises (only EOD I & II is). Participants are encouraged to seek their own accommodation, based on personal preferences. There is a range of inns, guesthouses, apartments and hotels at different price ranges available in the region. Based on proximity to the Academy, we recommend the following:

5. Are there visa restrictions for visiting Germany?

For some countries visa restrictions may apply. We suggest checking the website of the German Embassy in your country for details.  

6. Gear and outfit

Bavaria is beautiful, most of the time, but the weather can sometimes change unexpectedly. We recommend to pack for the season, and have some backup bad weather gear ready, just in case. For field exercises, working clothes, including metal free boots and gloves, are required.
